Rheinhessen
Germany's largest wine region, Rheinhessen, lies in a valley of gentle rolling hills. Varied soils and the favorable climate make it possible to grow many grape varieties, such as Scheurebe, the ancient variety Silvaner, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. More recently, a young generation of local winegrowers are producing some high quality Rieslings.
Klaus Peter Keller is without a doubt the big name in the area, with his sought after wines commanding super premium prices.
