Rioja
Spain’s most famous regional wine featuring Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes, Rioja wines are known for their savoury, dusty flavours and ability to age. Rioja is one of few European winemaking zones that enlists the use of American oak barrels to produce very good quality and excellent value.
Newer style Rioja as made by Artadi, Finca Allende, Finca Valpiedra, Roda and Benjamin Romeo are amongst our best selling wines from this region, as is Rioja Alta. Rioja Alta, situated in the western region of Rioja, derives its name from the higher elevations it encompasses compared to the previously designated Rioja Baja.
