Boasting over 1000 wineries, producing over 70 different wine varieties, the Washington state wine region can successfully take its place as the 2nd largest premium wine producer of wine in the United States.
Since the early 1950s the state has been on a journey of discovery when it comes to viniculture and has continued to delve into the capabilities of the region which saw that throughout the rest of the 20th century, the wine world discovered a new aspect of Washington wines with each passing decade.
This journey was initiated by the successful planting of Cinsault by early Italian settlers but then evolved into a region capable of producing Rieslings, Chardonnays, Merlots, Cabernet Sauvignon as well as the esteemed Syrah.
